How to Read Time-in-Top Rankings

Time-in-Top rankings show how consistently a cryptocurrency stayed among the Top 10 assets by market capitalization during the selected period.

A higher position means the asset spent more days inside the chosen Top N. When multiple coins have the same number of days, they are ranked by their average daily position, favoring assets that stayed closer to the top.

Why Time-in-Top Matters

Traditional rankings are based on a single moment in time and often reflect short-term market spikes.

Time-in-Top focuses on persistence and market dominance over time, helping identify assets that maintained strong positions across different market conditions rather than briefly appearing at the top.

How Rankings Are Calculated

Days in Top — total number of days the asset appeared within the Top 10 during the selected period.

Time Share — percentage of the selected period the asset spent inside the Top 10.

Average Rank — the mean ranking position of the asset across all days, including days outside the Top 10.

End Rank — the asset’s ranking position on the final day of the period.

Average Market Cap & Average Price — the mean market capitalization and price across the entire period, not only when it was in the Top 10.

This methodology helps distinguish between assets with short-term spikes and those with sustained market performance.
